International Women’s Day 8th March, 2020
We gave an informative lecture on the risk factors of heart disease in women and preventive rehabilitation to a dynamic group of women IT engineers at a company called Dynacons Systems & Solutions Ltd.
We at Carehabitat have always believed in the mission to spread awareness on heart health to everyone. With the increased incidence of women and heart disease, it is very important to educate the women of the world regarding the risk factors so they take the necessary precautions and lead a heart-healthy lifestyle.
Marathon Participation
It is most satisfying to see our patients not only take active participation but have such a great competitive spirit!
Vivekananda Zero Plastic Marathon 12th January, 2020
CareHabitat is extremely happy to share that for the third consecutive year, our Cardiac Rehabilitation heroes along with Pulmonary Rehab participants completed their run at the Vivekananda Zero Plastic Marathon, Mumbai.
The cardiac group completed the 5kms event at the marathon with everyone completing in 30-40 minutes.
The pulmonary group successfully walked through the 2kms event.
Everyone was ecstatic and held their medals high up and smiled for the photographs! Another memorable and special day for us at Carehabitat.
Vivekananda Peace Marathon 3rd February, 2019
Marathons have become one of the most awaited events for our cardiac and pulmonary family. Now not only do the cardiac heroes participate, but even the pulmonary patients are motivated & look forward to the marathon events.
This year, we had our cardiac group participate and excel in the 5kms Run for Vivekananda. It was so satisfying to see all the cardiac heroes embrace a sense of achievement in completing the event. All covered the 5kms distance in around 30-40 minutes.
Our pulmonary group embraced the 2kms Peace walkathon and completed it with smiles on their faces at the finish line. All our patient’s families had come to support them and cheer for them. It was truly such a remarkable day for us at Carehabitat!
Juhu Half Marathon 25th February, 2018
25 of our cardiac champions (as we call them), most of them having undergone angioplasty or bypass surgery and have attended cardiac rehabilitation at Carehabitat and exercise daily took part and completed the 4kms Get Fit Run of the Juhu Half Marathon.
Most of the participants completed the 4kms distance under 30 minutes and the rest in under 40 minutes. It was such a victorious day for everyone at Carehabitat!
This just shows that if you exercise well and make the necessary lifestyle changes post a cardiac event, you too can achieve the impossible! Everyone who took part in the event that day had their head held high and we are so proud of each of them for their hard work, dedication and perseverance!
World Heart Day Celebrations
We have conducted a free risk stratification and cardiac rehab camp at CareHabitat every year since 2017.
This included making our society aware of the risk factors of heart disease which is very important. We imparted education to the people who attended the camp about the non-modifiable and modifiable risk factors of heart disease. We explained that the non-modifiable risk factors such as age, gender and family history are something one cannot do anything about. But the non-modifiable risk factors such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle, smoking habits and consumption of junk foods are definitely on us to act and do something about.
Thus the Prevention programs at Carehabitat aim to impart education on the risk factors of heart disease so that people do not have to undergo a problem to then worry about how to face it. If our society is aware of these risk factors, such as smoking, high BP, junk foods high in bad cholesterol, family history, age, gender, diabetes, obesity, then we can help to make the required lifestyle changes and prevent the onset of heart disease.
Why should anyone have to undergo angioplasty or bypass surgery if they already knew what the risk factors are? Carehabitat would love to be a part of many such awareness programs as a healthy society is a productive society.
International Yoga Day 21st June 2018
We love incorporating yoga in our programs at CareHabitat and the International Yoga Day was no exception.
We made it a point to impart the importance of yoga and it’s benefits on not only our cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal system, but also on the mind and it’s higher functions.
Yoga is extremely beneficial to our body and thus we always make sure to include few stretching and flexibility exercises and concentrate on increasing the lung capacity through deep breathing exercises and pranayama.
Talk at JVPG Club on 13th Sept 2017
We were lucky to get associated with this opportunity of presenting at the prestigious Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club. The topic of the presentation was Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Dr. Urvi spoke about heart disease being a source of huge concern in the young population of India. She also stressed the risk factors of heart disease and if action is taken early then one can prevent the onset and progression of the disease process. For those who already went through heart surgery, the knowledge, importance and advantages of cardiac rehabilitation were imparted.
This was a very informative session with lots of interesting questions and good interaction with the audience.
